Howie-AI is operated by Howie Atkin, an AI consultancy specialising in addiction and recovery services and complex-problem AI development. We are based in the United Kingdom.

2. What data we collect

We collect personal data only when you actively provide it:

• Contact form — your name, email address, and the message you write to us.
• AI chatbot lead capture — if you choose to share your name and email during a conversation with our AI assistant, that information is recorded so we can follow up.

We do not collect sensitive personal data (health information, financial data, etc.) through this website.

3. How we use your data

• To respond to your enquiry or message
• To follow up on a conversation you started with our AI assistant
• To assess whether there is a commercial or collaborative opportunity between us

We do not use your data for automated decision-making, profiling, or marketing without your explicit consent.

4. Legal basis for processing

Our legal basis under UK GDPR is legitimate interest — specifically, responding to direct enquiries from people who have chosen to contact us — and, where applicable, the steps necessary to enter into a contract.

5. How we store your data

Contact and lead data is stored in a Neon serverless Postgres database hosted on AWS infrastructure within the EU (eu-west-2 region). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest.

We retain contact data for a maximum of 2 years from the date of submission, or until you request deletion — whichever is sooner.

6. Third parties we share data with

We use the following third-party processors to operate this website:

• Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, DDoS protection, and cookieless analytics. Cloudflare processes network metadata (IP address, request headers) to deliver the website. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
• Resend — email delivery. When you submit our contact form, we receive a notification email containing your name, email address, and message. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
• Neon — serverless database. Your submitted data is stored in Neon's managed Postgres infrastructure. See Neon's Privacy Policy.
• Anthropic — AI model provider. Conversations with our AI assistant are processed by Anthropic's Claude API. Anthropic does not use API inputs to train its models. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal data to any third party.

7. Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Rectification — ask us to correct inaccurate data
• Erasure — ask us to delete your data
• Portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
• Object — object to processing based on legitimate interest
• Restriction — ask us to restrict processing while a dispute is resolved

To exercise any of these rights, email howie@howie-ai.com. We will respond within 30 days.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) if you believe your data has been handled unlawfully.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of the page will reflect any changes. Continued use of the website after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
